Update: We'll be meeting at 2pm on August 12th, at the entrance of the the new building of the State Library of New South Wales for an informal Kete meetup. Come on along.

Joann Ransom from Horowhenua Library Trust, Claire Hall from Te Reo o Taranaki, and myself will be at the MyLanguage.Net 2010 Conference next week. The conference will focus on how digital technologies can be used to aid culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Claire and Joann will be co-presenting and I'll be along to give a bit of a project overview and answer questions.

Update: Due to demand, we have changed locations for the meeting to Oriental Bay Community Centre Band Rotunda Room. Details below.

The Kete Community Meeting is a gathering for those that use the Kete open source software, those that are considering using it for their projects, or anyone that wants to know more about Kete.

The meeting helps existing and planned Kete projects coordinate their efforts and share stories of what has worked for them as well as the obstacles they have encountered.

The agenda is set collaboratively using Kete itself. Come shape it at Agenda for the November 2009

The Kete 1.3 release will have some exciting functionality for integrating content from multiple sites, say your Koha3 catalog and perhaps a national content metadata aggregation service like DigitalNZ, into your Kete site.

I'm happy to announce that this work has been bundled up into a standalone open source Ruby on Rails engine to be used by other applications to enjoy the same capabilities. The engine was funded by DigitalNZ and Katipo. It also includes work that was originally funded by Auckland City Libraries.
