Kete Tararua is an online digital repository of media generated and uploaded by our community. Here you will find stories, photos, videos and audio of the land and people of Tararua. Our aim is to bring these stories together so that we can share with each other, Aotearoa New Zealand and the world. The Tararua region stretches from the ridges of the Ruahine and Tararua ranges, to the shores of the Pacific. Tararua encompasses the townships of Norsewood, Dannevirke, Woodville, Pahiatua, Eketahuna, Ballance and Pongaroa as well as the coastal areas of Akitio and Herbertville. Discover a relaxed lifestyle conveniently close to main centres. Great fishing, eco-tourism and adventure opportunities. Visit the world famous National Wildlife Centre at Mount Bruce, view the majestic turbines of Tararua Wind Power and Te Apiti, experience the tranquillity of a walk through stunning native forests. The Kete is brought to you by the Tararua District Library, with the support of the National Library of New Zealand and the Aotearoa Peoples Network Kaharoa and utilises open source software first developed by Katipo Communications and the Horowhenua Library Trust. Everybody with media or stories about Tararua is more than welcome to freely contribute to the Kete by registering.
